"Phenomenon"

The eye doctor made me look at bright lights with dilated eyes today, and I'm trying very hard not to think of the phenomenon of lights = misery for me. He was quite unhelpful about my recent migraines. He said my eyes are healthy, and I should have someone check out my brain. Go ahead and laugh! I chuckled too.

Since I have bug eyes today, I'm going with the simplest answer for "phenomenon"
since I've already been working on this piece for another purpose. Snowflakes are magical and wonderful, and I love putting them together. Sometimes I like to cut them out of paper like we all did as children -- well, all of us snow-bound children. I like the surprise of how the opened piece of paper will turn out. These snowflakes all started out as little doodles like the one shown at left.

I shoveled my driveway for the first time of the year today. My guess is I'll have plenty to say about snow in the upcoming months, and since I wrote a lot last week, I'm taking my dilated eyes to a quiet corner and letting the world go by for now.

BTW, no matter what size I make the original, this blog wants to make it small. If I enlarge it in the layout mode, it looks fuzzy. Clicking on it takes it to another page which looks cleaner. Anyone know a way around this?

  1. I agree with you. Snowflakes are magical, and yours are beautifully light and drifty and floaty. I remember watching individual flakes land on my black coat and just being able to make out the incredible shapes and patterns. Magic from the sky, indeed.

  3. Your snowflakes are wonderful, however migraines are horrible. Lights outside your head are great, inside are not great at all.
Wishing you lots of beautiful snowflakes and outside the head lights during the holidays.

  5. Snowflakes are a great choice for the prompt and yours are very pretty indeed. Good luck with figuring out the source of the migraines. That is not pleasant.

  7. Ah, I'd been thinking about snowflakes too! Lovely illustration. Hope you get your 'lights' sorted. Migraines are no fun.

  8. Thanks everyone! You're all so wonderful :)

@Bella, I had the same experience when I was wearing a blue coat. I like "magic from the sky" -- at least when I can just admire instead of shoveling it!

@Patti, small world! I had a great time at CCAD. Thanks for the follow!

@Rand, thanks for your follow too!

  10. I agreed that snowflakes are magical and wonderful. You cannot find one snowflake that is identical to another one. Somehow it’s always slightly different. So each snowflake is unique. This is a really nice illustration.

  13. This is beautiful Linda. Anything blue draws me in! Great variety of patterns.

Ugh, migraines. I suffered for years. I can't even begin to count the days I lost. They've vanished since my hysterectomy...but don't run out and get one of those!! ;)

  17. Thanks Juan!

@ Michelle, it's funny how my perspective on snow changes when it's piled up in the driveway! I like thinking about your wonderment instead. And yeah, I can still feel that too sometimes :)

@ Richard, thanks for making me smile :)

  22. Thanks Jack! Geof got out of the hospital, but he's still got medical issues to deal with. Sorry to be vague, but he wants his privacy, which I'll honor. Prayers are still helpful and appreciated.

  23. Hi Linda. Thanks for coming by my blog today. I am so glad to discover your lovely blog. Your snow flakes are very fine. Shining bright lights into dilated pupils is a terrible thing to do to someone with migraine. For me, they can be triggered by supermarket red laser flashes and overhead bright lights that flicker. My sympathy goes out to you. Migraines are not fun. Take care!

  24. @Mary Jane, you're right about those red lasers and flickering lights! I'm feeling much better since my eyes deflated back to normal. Thanks for visiting!
