I had a pajama party with a friend from high school. When I mentioned the word for the week is
"Sparkle" she brought out sparkly markers and mandala coloring
books. Coloring and talking was a
pleasant way to spend the evening together.
She enjoys her coloring books, and I hear this has gotten
pretty popular. It's a way for
non-artists to get the right side of their brains into the same zen happiness
that artists get into when they're working.
I started to write this when my guest is still sleeping on
my couch, but she woke up and now we'll get breakfast, go antique shopping, or
maybe get spring water, or whatever it is she'd like to do for the day. Maybe we'll go to the river and watch the
sun sparkle on the water. It wasn't too
hard for me to abandon my plans to clean house and do yard work this weekend when I heard she
was in town for a funeral.
That sounds like a lovely sparkly weekend Linda. Hope you enjoyed it with your friend x
ReplyDeleteWe did get spring water and go shopping :) It was nice to see her. I'm glad you had a happy birthday this weekend Jane!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a happy day!
ReplyDeleteEveryone should get happy days with friends :)
ReplyDeleteI always love to see and photograph sparkles on the water. One of life's simple pleasures. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon! It's clear you love sparkling water if anyone looks at your photos :)
DeleteI've done the coloring years ago when my children were younger. At that time, it was still mostly for children, or maybe it just hadn't gotten the attention that it's getting now. Maybe I'll pull out one of the books and work on my zen happiness! :)
ReplyDeleteYour weekend was off to a good start and I'll bet it finished that way.
I used to color with kids too. Okay, I still color with kids if they let me :) May we all have fun weekends!
DeleteSome of my fondest memories from childhood are coloring with my Grandma. I've seen the mandala coloring books for adults, and have been tempted. Love your entry.
ReplyDeleteNice of you to turn your couch into a pajama party weekend.
Low investment for an adult coloring book. Go for it! Coloring with Grandma sounds wonderful :)
